The Saab Network web site underwent a significant change in early January and moved to a new domain name (http://www.saabnet.com/tsn.html). The move takes The Saab Network server off an analog line operating between 28.8-115.2k and places it on the other end of a T1, providing more than 10 times the bandwidth. This move was made possible by the generosity of Midcoast Internet Solutions in Maine, USA (http://www.midcoast.com/), operated by Jason Philbrook, founder, and Jason Simonds, co-founder, both members of The Saab Network.
"The Saab Network is a great resource for Saab owners and we wanted to see it have an appropriate network connection," Said Jason Philbrook who owns a 1988 Saab 900T. "Besides, now I have a 10Mbs connection to The Saab Network server myself," he further remarked. Jason Simmonds, who owns a 1997 Saab 900S added, "We are pleased to be in a position that allows us to support The Saab Network. The additional bandwidth will allow it to grow while maintaining a timely response to all users."
"Hopefully the transition went smoothly and users hadn't even noticed," Said Scott Paterson, The Saab Network creator and moderator. "This is really just about two Saab owners helping all the other Saab owners on the Internet and since, according to JD & Associates APEAL study, Saab owners are the most active Internet users of any car owning group, that's a lot of people."
