Saab Sales Surpass 40,000 For First Time in 16 Years
Norcross, GA - Earlier this morning, Saab car sales surpassed 40,000 units in the United States for the first time in 16 years. With a full day of sales reporting yet to close October, Saab Cars USA's year-to-date sales of over 40,000 units surpassed annual sales for every year since 1987, when year-end sales were 44,364. The only other year that Saab has passed the 40,000-level was 1986, with sales of 47,414. With two more sales months this year, Saab is on target to pass those numbers and set an all-time sales record.
Much of the Swedish manufacturer's success can be attributed to the popularity of the new Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan, introduced late last year.
"We are very excited to achieve one more sales milestone this year," commented Debra Kelly-Ennis, President of Saab Cars USA. "We have just added the all-new 9-3 Convertible to our portfolio, which is further expanding our customer appeal and adding to our sales."
Saab will launch a third model line next year, the all-wheel-drive Saab 9-2X five-door hatchback. "We expect our current unprecedented growth will continue into next year, and we'll get a further boost when we introduce the new Saab 9-2X next summer," Kelly-Ennis added.
