I have the 2005 9-3 with the 5-speed manual and it is very nice.
With the Turbo engine, I just can't see a reason for another gear in there. Best performance with the turbo is above 3000 RPM anyway and with the 5-speed, there is one less shift from 0-60mph.
I understand that the 6-speed is still offered in other markets like Europe and Canada. So may it is just Americans who don't appreciate the 6-speed, or are too vocal about the small faults.
