while waiting for an oil change i took out a 9-3ss linear with sport packageand launch package ( 17 inch wheels etc) saab 2 entertainment center, acc etc = loaded . i have seen pictures previously of the base model but this is a fine looking auto that looks better in real life . it has more leg room in the back as compared to the somewhat cramped 9-3 the trunk is cavernous, i liked the dash quite a bit more than i thought from pictures the materials seemed to be of reasonable quality i would agree with others that the cloth inserts are a little off when examined closely and the twin handle to the parking brake did not look like great but this will be removable for "smart slot" accesories such as a cd holder(looks like it might fit 4 or 5 uncased) or cup holder per the catalog. it was an auto and the handling was awesome! tight and quick very solid on turns at all speeds , engine power was decent (although i would like more) with quite a bit less turbo lag than 9-3, . test drove a 2002 9-5 aero auto as well very familiar dash layout although i think the 9-5 styling is starting to look a little dated as compared to the ss. very impressive accelleration, cruising along at 75mph with the engine revving 2.2k press the gas and zoom! (potential speeding tickets galore!!) if the arc and vector versions of 9-3ss approach the aero performance what a great ride it will be .
