Um, why not ask Audi (170hp 1.8T) or BMW (184hp but only 175lb/ft torque in 2.5 I6). And the answer to your specific question is that this engine trades a couple of horsies for more than a couple lb/ft of torque. (Just as BMW traded away some torque to gain horsepower when they tweaked their trusty base inline-6). If hp were the only spec worth noting, we'd all be revving the VTECs in our S2000s like madmen, wouldn't we? (No offense intended - that engine's a gem).
At any rate, most of your concerns are frankly to subjective to address. I personally wouldn't go near an X-Type, for pretty much all of the same reasons you seem to like it ("beautiful" interior, awd, plus it's a Jag). I'm sorry to be snippy, but you seem to be asking an awful lot of a car that stickers at a stripped 26K. Once the full line's available, this should become a moot discussion anway, since power and interior appointments will be upgraded considerably.
