I heard, or is it a myth, that gas stations only have 2 grades of gas in their tanks and the pump mixes the 2 to get mid grade.
Once, I mixed the gas myself, using 40% or so of 89 and 55-60% of 93 which makes it about 91.3.
I was thinking of mixing 40% or so (conservative estimate of how much gas the tank needs and using no more than half of that figure) of 87 and 55-60% of 93 which makes 91 octane at the same cost as the 89 octane.
I thought the owner's manual specified at least 90 octane for best results (but 87 octane at a minimum). If so 91 is icing on the cake.
Anyone try this?
