Well, maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but I've been towed 3 times in the last 60 days for the same problem. Drive the car a short distance, come back after gas, store, etc..car won't start..windows won't go up..disbled completely.

Steering lock failure, Immobilizer failure, key not accepted are the 3 common error messages. Also, lights stay on as does the radio, and fan comes on by itself? with the key out of the ignition.

First time they (dealer) replaced my battery..said it was a bad cell
Second time, replaced the battery again...same thing
This last time, after the car sat overnight disabled on the lot, they call me and tell me the car is fine, started and ran just fine! They think it may be a transponder issue...but when I got the car, they replaced both keys with "second generation" transponders.

I'm at wit's end here..and am to the point where I don't trust the car..luckily I've been close to home all 3 times, but with the amount of travel I do, it's a matter of time before I'm 400 miles away and this happens.

Have read on here about steering lock solonoid, ingnition replacement, complete new main computer. I've noticed that sometimes the steering lock doesn't 'engage' when pulling out the key. The service dept. is great, but what I'm hearing on this recent visit sounds like guesswork and that they truly DON'T know what's wrong and can't afford trial and error solutions until it's finally right!

Anyone have any insight here? Getting really frustrated..don't want to trade the car, but can't deal with the unreliability. I can deal with small issues, bulbs, badges, door handles... but not getting stranded and especially if I have to leave the car with the windows wide open..disabled somewhere out of town!
