When the timecame I couldnt trade fast enough my 9-5 linear for the 2003 9-5Aero seat. The seat bottom is longer, thefront edge sits higher. Hence I find i can sit ON the seat rather than IN. There is more support for the underthigh. My wife loved the seat so much that she demanded a trade 3 months ago for a 9-5 Aero too. Its all makes it so much difference for our dailycommutes. Its like the SUV position without all the hulk.
The 9-3 SS seat in this week,s loaner was non powered. It reminded me very much of the seat 20 years ago in my then ALFA Romeo Giullietta. The "monkey" position " then with knees higher than the hips was fine, you sat into the seat with the spine pressed into the seat back. It was all a hoot and a blast to drive. I absolutely loved this 9_3 ,smooth as butter on the hway, and roadholding vastly superior to my former Alfa. I,ll take the S/combi Aero next year if the seats are indeed higher in 2006.
OK, all that said I do fall into the "Boomer" generation ,and I am the belated owner of a spine with enoughtitanium plates and screws from my former sports to activate alarmed elevators in my work building!, These pieces tend to push against the lumbar roll in the 9-2X loaner, less so the 9-3 but there nonetheless with that ape position.
Reasonably we can perhaps predict seats will become a more vital issue in consumers, choices with premium cars in future, if not so already, right Mike?
