Telematics has come to your cellphone, at a much lower price than OnStar. Why do ya'think GM is pushing it so hard, it SOOOooooo lucrative for them. $699 for Onstar as an option, geez, come on now, for a glorified cell phone without any features? OnStar is an overly simple system for a car that attracts overly intelligent folks. Fine in a Chevy pickup, ever notice all the OnStar commercials and parodies (here's the BlondeStar link again in case you missed it) have southern accents? If I can push an OnStar button I can dial my cell phone too.
OnStar is an example of marketing to the lowest demographic, which in America is seldom unsuccessful. I'd like to think that Saab might be an exception to that theory.
