If the dealer's using Saab's 0W-30, then yes, I'd stick with changes at the 50% mark. But once you're no longer relying on the dealer to service the car, you should use either M1 5W-40 or 15W-50 (depending on you coldest ambient start-up temps). Since the oil capacity has been increased by 50% over either of your earlier 900s (from 4L to 6L), both of these oils will easily handle your type of driving for 1+yrs/10k miles.
Since there's no OLM on the '98, how often do you change the oil on that?
