Mike,
I mean the actual electronic "click" of the steering lock solonoid, not turning the wheel to a locked position. When this all was happening, I had to put the key in and out until I heard the click..sometimes several times and sometimes a drive around the block worked. I could always tell when my car was about to die when this began to happen..and I was right. The ingnition switch replacement seems to have taken care of it..so hopefully all is well.
Another question, have you ever had experience with a car losing power like the turbo wasn't even operating..like no boost? Happened last 2 weeks to me on longer trips..driving along..go to pass or hit a slight incline in the road hit the gas..and the car actually slowed down and struggled to get above 2k RPM's..boost guage would go up..but almost seemed like the turbo didn't engage..no familar "whoosh" of the turbo. First time it happened, after turning off the car and restarting, it solved itself..second time, 10 miles from the dealer car all of a sudden started acting normally. No smoke, no CEL, and of course dealer found no issues. Read about something similar with a Volvo..same EXACT symptoms..was explained by and ECU sensing 'overboost'. I'm wondering if temperature could be a factor since it seemed to happen after 100-150 miles of highway driving. After 2 times, dealer is going to think I'm crying wolf as they've found no problems. Seems when car cools down, it corrects?
Any insight?
