which is what this sound shop (Al and Ed's Autosound in W. Hollywood) said has to happen. The guy looked at it and said "fiber optic connections, new amp has to complement what's there" so there was a definite understanding that the OEM amp has to stay to keep all the function of the main screen interface working. Supposedly the speakers aren't that bad. To be honest, the sub in the rear, I can't even HEAR it!
When you look at the cost of the upgrade to really good stuff, it's pretty clear that a $600 upgrade to a "premium" system, at least in Saab's case, isn't worth it. The guys said they've redone four Maserati Quattroportes in the past 6 months (well, this IS LA...so take that for what it's worth). Again, the same problem.
Yet when I get in a friend's $22K Jeep Wrangler, the system sounds great...go figure.
I just looked at Volvousa and the upgraded stereo for the new C70. $1500, and I wonder if it performs!!
Anyway, I look forward to the improvement...although it will be a "ramen noodles" period for a while afterwards to recharge the bank account! ;-)
Cheers,
Paul H.
