Nah, I disagree.
There is more to life than Car & Driver. According to them, we should all drive G35s or M3s. In fact, their taste in cars is quite unusual - it's a test bench magazine, not a driver's magazine.
I don't want summer tires. And I live in Arizona. Saabs are from Sweden. Having summer tires there would be ridiculous (which the Volvo is). Yes, the 9000 Aero used to wear $200 Michelin MXMs with 0.5" tread depth. It wasn't worth the compromise.
The 9-3 Aero is a fast luxury car, not a sports car. It does not belong on the track. And yeah, 90% of people would not change out of summer tires when the snow flies - so Saab's decision saves lives. We all agree that summer tires are horrible in snow.
My 9-3 2.0T handles great IMO and rides decently - the design would not support more aggressive tuning. It's a good touring car, not a good race car. I'm delighted with my purchase more each day.
