At first I thought this was crazy talk. Your definatey talking about E85 for anyone wondering. Tradionally E85 seems to vary between slightly over and slightly under normal gas. Right now it appears to be running ~ .02 cents more (odd ball case) to a $1.05 less (based on an eyeballing of the following link). Typical difference seems to be between .20 cents and .50 cents with plenty of stations at .50 cents or better cheaper for E85.
However, I think the comparisions is with regular grade gas and I believe E85 has much higher octane. Assuming E85 does indeed have higher octane and if you have car running premium the difference in price may in fact be much larger and should be compared with premium prices if you need it. On the other hand keep in mind E85 probably also results in slightly lower MPG so it needs to be cheaper just to break even in the first place.
Still if you had a car that could take E85 at many stations looks like a great deal. Only cars that specify E85 can use it without modification; don't even think of it if your vehicle isn't approved.
