$100 ish more for an Aero.... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Fri, 21 Jul 2006 13:10:30 In Reply to: Leasing, Matt, Fri, 21 Jul 2006 09:02:40 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I like using the advertised lease for comparison. The ad lease is an automatic, metallic paint 2.0T $28,520 MSRP, $299 for 27 months, 12,000 miles per year, $2,499 due at signing. This is a national ad so it's exclusive of any local tax and license. Here in Oceanside $299 grows to $322 including local sales tax and $2,499 becomes $2,976 in total drive offs.
Less or more cash in is cash/term, a strict dollar in dollar out. More car is different, you're only leasing each extra $1k of equipment for about $15-20 a month.
27 months is the optimized payment owing to a hump in the residual. Do the same lease for 36 months and the payment goes up $20-25. 15,000 miles per year adds $15 a month. So that $299 car becomes $335 by going to 36 months and 15k. Staying with the 27 mos, but still 15k is $309 ish.
An Aero adds about $100 a month to all this as it's $6k more car, $28,520 vs $34,520, and loses a couple of points of residual value vs a 2.0T. There's a slightly larger incentive though to make up the ground.
