Does anyone know why the new dash has, right at eye level, near the top of the dash just to the right of the steering wheel, an awful amber light indicating that the passenger airbag is on (when there's a passenger) or off (when there's no passenger)? Why do we need this information? The worst thing is that it is at eye level and is ALWAYS ON (indicating either AIRBAG ON or AIRBAG OFF). It does not turn off when you activate the night panel.
I noticed a similar light in my courtesy rental (a Pontiac G-6) so it seems to be a GM affectation. The salesman pointed out you could cover it with black tape, but that will hardly improve the look of the dash.
As for the rest of the new dash, I agree with others that it is generally a wrong turn. It's nice to have steering wheel controls for the SID, but they could have added that and left the wonderful heads up binnacle, which also adds a nice flowing curve to the dashboard.
