If you are planning to keep the car for a long time you should replace transmission, brake and coolant fluids at 30K miles too. Fuel filter is good for 60K miles if you use well known gas stations.
Yes, fluids has gotten better in later years but the main reason for these long service schedules are more of political nature and that the car maker can show nice low figures when it comes to service cost for X amount of miles.
The other reason for long fluid intervals is that if the car maker can show the emission certification agency what low amount of fluids being used over X amount of years, they get a better break in green fees.
Both those reason doesn't mean this is good for the car in the long run but if it break down (especially after warranty is over) they can make money selling parts too.
