2003-2011 [Subscribe to Daily Digest] |
All, I want to post a clarification on a note I posted earlier which may have been interpreted differently than my intent. To wit:
I said
" I really wanted an 07 for the integrated XM in a covertible, but my local dealer has gone delusional and won't wiggle on price for me."
... and what I meant was that I was unable to negotiate a favorable deal for myself on a leftover 2007 with XM to replace my 2005 car.
In point of fact, the guys at Dulles Service for Saab did a great job installing the XM roadmate kit in my 2005 and it works great, have no complaints, and they've done a great job on that.
When I said:
"I know the promotions are coming (is it up to $4k this month?) but I'm a long way off due to rotten trade-in value."
I'm simply bemoaning the relatively quick depreication of Saab cars. We can all comiserate on that one, I think. As a result, the car price is still out of reach for me.
When I said :
" Man I love this car, but I wish it wasn't such a technology antique. "
I meant that I love the car, but from a technology standpoint, the state of art for stereos, bluetooth, all that, is well beyond where Saab is. That's in no way a reflection on performance by my dealer or my dealer's service centers, which have always been great to me.
When I said:
"My service dealer in Dulles is pretty darn good, though. I like the wrench turner there."
I meant that I'm happy with my service experiences, and that as a former wrench turner myself (meant to be a positive slang term), I'm impressed with the service technicians that worked on my car. I meant no disrespect in calling someone a wrench turner, I was a mechanic myself for several years. I apologize for any injury there.
" I'd like to stick with the saab brand if I can afford it. "
What I meant was that I'm not wealthy, and these cars are expensive in the convertible packages. I'd like to stay with Saab, but ultimately it's a price thing, and I just haven't found a price point with my local dealer. In fact, I haven't really enthusiastically shopped elsewhere because I'm happy with these guys.
To clarify, I'm very happy and impressed with my experiences with International Saab in Falls Church and their service centers, including and especially the Dulles location for service. Everyone has been great to me there, they understand the product and are willing to go the extra mile every time. I strongly recommend both the dealership and the service center.
My apologies for the bandwidth, but I don't want to leave an incorrect impression.
