I think the Z pleat ones from Saab were too restrictive. (Anyone, please comment on the change from Z pleats to straight).
Isn't any filter ok if you change it often enough. Maybe a little more dirt passes through but not that much different?
If you want the best, it's still hard because there are no tests showing OEM is better or worse. If the filter looks cheap, then maybe avoid it (like the metal spin on Frams).
If you rely on the OEM, then at least you are going with the standard quality ones (definitely acceptable, though may or may not be the best).
I used the Mann spin on in my old car except for 3-4 Frams before I knew any better. For my current car, oil changes are so infrequent that I just stick with OEM.
