I have snow tires (winter tires). In a month or so, I need to get new tires. What are the best tires possible?
Not important are costs (ok, can't spend more than $250 a tire unless they are really better) and ride (I might regret it if the tires sound like a car without a muffler or if they are square tires).
Breaking distances don't vary much but there is some difference between the worst and the best. Perhaps those 3-10 feet might make a difference between a dent and nothing. I don't like to brake much in curves so grip does matter. I do drive in the rain so driving a death trap is not practical. I did like the Yokohama AVS Intermediate years ago. Then the car got old so I chose some semi-granny/semi-performance tires, the Dunlop D60A2. That car is now in the junkyard.
For my current 9-3, I'm considering:
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 and
Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric.
Probably not in the running is the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. All season tires are not in the running. 235/45-17, not 225/45-17 are the size that I'll get.
Opinions? Is the GS-D3 better in wet?
