My dlr provides "free" rental cars provided by enterprise. The catch is that customer needs to pay $18 for the insurance coverage otherwise they are liable for anything that might happen.
Then again there was the local indy who had the practice of providing "equivalent" cars and for me it was an '87 900 with 300,000 miles on the ticker (mine only had 180k but this was what they had on the lot). A turbo vacuum tube sheared off on my way home from work and caused the car to stumble and run like crap on a highway w/ no shoulder in the middle of a monsoon...at night (fortunately the next day I noticed the loose line and plugged it in and..viola..car back to normal). Another occaision, the loaner ('86 900, I think) had an alternator problem that drained the battery by the time I went the 60 miles back to work. They send a flatbed to grab the car the next day and since my car was ready..delivered it to my workplace the 60 miles on the flatbed.
Yea...now I try to avoid loaners if possible.
