I'm with you on the Saab "na sayers" who do not wish to purchse a Saab anymore. Calling a Saab garbage is blaspheme to me but since GM has there name associated with the car people seem to automaticly hate even though the 9-3 and 9-5 platforms are still basicly Sweedish. I have the 9-3 linear SE (175hp motor) with the manual gear box and I'm rocking 33mpg consistantly on the interstate. Also, if I take it easy on the car and cruise 70 (which is extremely hard to do) I have gotten upwards of 35mpg. The most astounding numbers I have ever gotten was driving from Johnson City (1700ft elevation) to Knoxville, Tennessee (900 ft elevation). I had just changed my air filter and had some new tires and I averaged 36.7 mpg in the course of 100 miles. And just a little side note to back up Toyota/Lexus reliability, I had a family member purchse a new Avalon and within two weeks it was back in the shop with transmission problems. (go figure)
