In Connecticut, there is no problem getting diesel-2 stations in my town of 5000 sell it. As to the claim that our auto mechanics can't service diesels,it just untrue. I've had VW diesels since 1982 and had no problems with service-and VW dealers are infamous for poor ,high priced service. Modern diesel engines need oil changes and timing belt changes and thats about it.My 96 Passat TDI has 158K on it and still gets 45 mpg around town.I really can't understand why GM and Ford have not bought in some diesels from Europe.A VW factory rep once told me that VW can sell every diesel it makes in Europe for more than they could charge here,so what was(is) the motivation for them to bring them across the Atlantic ? None that I can see,to our misfortune. Still,if Saab or Volvo sold a diesel 9-3/ 9-5 or S60/S80 in this country,I'd be at the dealer tomorrow.
