Mine came off too as the weather headed up recently. This fix worked. I put the car in neutral in my garage, pulled up the hand brake, put a little Ducco glue along the splines of the bored opening in the knob, placed the knob back on the shaft (on top of the spring), then put a box of bottled water balanced on the center console armrest and the shift knob. I let it dry over night. It has been solid for several days now, despite the heat. Saved me a trip to the dealer.
