I had the same problem on night with my 2005 9-3 convertible. I pulled the fuse for the dash panel. I reinstalled the fuse the next morning and drove to work. The issue has not returned.
I suspect that the raised button in the bottom of the ignition switch got stuck in the down position. I applied a little silicone spray lube a few days later as "insurance". However since the problem has not recurred, I do not truly know the cause.
