BSR Stage 1 tune made my car slower

It's an 09 2.0T XWD
Something's up with my tune because I swear the car feels slower. It feels like I'm not getting any boost on the first three gears or at least very little. It's not until I really wind up the engine on third and fourth that I feel that distinctive kick when you get max boost.
The engine also sounds different. There's a whine that starts at around 4500 RPMs that sounds a bit like a supercharger whine. I noticed this noise before the tune as well but I think it's even more pronounced when the car is in "tuned" mode. Or maybe I'm just paranoid because I'm afraid I might do some damage.
Fuel economy is also appalling when in this mode. > 12L/100KM
I've synced the PPC using the windows software and gone back and tuned it, untuned it, tuned it and untuned it. It's the same.
I've emailed my dealer asking for support. Anyone else have any other advice or has experienced this or something similar? From what I read about the BSR tune, it should be a noticeable difference in the seat of the pants type of way. So far it's been a disappointment.
