From people that have driven cars with that engine (LNF), I would assume it's because it's not a smooth engine like the b207r (LK9). While it may share the same block as other L61 based engines, all its internal components are exclusive to Saab to meet their standards for reliable forced induction.
The Trionic engine management system is a core Saab technology that I'm glad they haven't parted with and to adapt it for direct injection engines I'm sure is no simple task.
Who knows, maybe it's in their roadmap to do their own version of the LNF engine. The b207r has served Saab well I think, but they should probably look at having something else for their new cars coming down the pipe. It's getting a bit long in tooth. Although the 2.3 Ecopower engine is still around, so we may see the b207r for quite some time.
