Mike, it doesn't sound like you should be concerned. I've only had the '09 SC since Sunday, so this was it's first highway cruise, albeit at morning rush hour (slow, but steady pace at 50-55 mph). I have a 5-speed auto trans. Since I'm barely over 200 miles on the clock, it will be some time until I get the full story.
My '05 93ss was a Linear, with a low pressure 2.0 L turbo with 170 hp, not 220 hp as in our '09 SCs. It was very economical. I routinely calculated 33-35 mpg on long trips (e.g., from here in VA to MI or FL and back). The SID reading was usually a bit higher than 33-35. I used to get about 25 mpg for mixed driving in the NoVA/DC suburbs. I didn't drive it hard, but I also didn't tie up traffic by cruising at 50 mph on I-66...around here, that could get you shot. LOL!
