My 2003 9-3 Vector had its transmission replaced at 55k after my wife had the car breakdown into slow speed 4 hours from the house. After paying $500 to a dealer in Amherst, MA...the problem occured again closer to home...result need to replace the transmission (which Saab did under warranty and after I had earlier brought it in for a recall that was to address this problem)...Good News...not quite.
At 76K the Trans Light went on..car wouldn't move as it was disabled by the computer..and had it hauled away to the dealer. Diagnosis..you need a new transmission and radiator (but Saab did give me a $1500 certificate for a GM car). The dealer also wanted to buy what looks like a great car and one I never had any problems for $2000. So the car sits in my garage waiting for a transmission repair of $3500-$4500.
However, I have been driving it lately in the cold weather around the block and no transmission failure has occured...not sure why.
Same boat do I fix and sell...or am I throwing good money against bad...I still love the car.
