To install a bigger filter, you'll need to hog out a larger hole in the block. Probably not a good idea.
I don't think there is any less material there than has been in the Saab OE filters for, oh, the past 20 years or so...
Just keep filling it with full synthetic, and change it at least as often as the owner's manual (or the dash computer, if your car is late enough - they're actually pretty accurate) says to, and you should be fine.
