I have had my 9-3 vert since '06. I live in SE Pennsylvania so our winters are not as bad as yours but it is a wonderful car in winter. The top is "top notch" and well insulated. I have the cold weather package with heated seats, mirror heater, and a few other items I don't recall. We have never regretted having a convertible in the winter. It rides and handles winter weather like any other 9.3, not as quiet as a hard top you get a little hiss/wind noise at highway speeds but it really is a nice car with the top up, not as squeaky as a 9.3 hardtop either. We go topless into early December and start up again in late February early March. With an occasional warm weather day 50+ degrees during the winter thaw. The wind screen helps a lot also on really cool days. Top down windows up and the wind screen in place it is like driving with the world’s largest sunroof open. IF you are really drawn to the car go for it, people will say how impractical it is w/ a small back seat, reduced trunk space with top down, etc, but you'll soon realize it was a great choice. We have travelled some long distances w/ four people and it was OK. For two people it is perfect and even better on a long trip alone. It is my daily driver and I wouldn’t have it any other way this time of year, fall winter or spring. Good luck in your choice.
