100,000 mile spark plugs? I don't think so......... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sat, 31 Jul 2010 10:13:19 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I just changed out the plugs in my wife's 9-3SC 2.0T after 34,500 miles of use, and following some random stuttering during acceleration. I know double platimum plugs are said to have a 100,000 mile life, but I was surprised at the wear on the factory original plugs.
Amazingly they still measured 1mm gap, but the tiny tip on the grounding leg was gone and half of the sharply tapered electrode tip was worn away too.
A box of four plugs was only $18 from Shaw SAAB's website. Based on the wear I wtinessed, I would give these plugs a 50K mile life maximum.
