A GPS is a lot easier than finding one of those radar trailers, and is plenty accurate enough for this use.
My car, with the 215/55-16 factory wheels and tires, is a full 5mph high at 80mph, i.e. 80mph indicated is 75mph actual. The odometer is spot on, however. This is pretty typical of European cars. With my 225/45-17 summer wheels, it is 6mph off at 80. Per both of my GPS'.
