Good luck with that. I had a minor rnegative experience with a Saab Dealer about a car with bad warranty info. I was the 2nd owner and I bought the car at a Ford dealer who took it from the original owner on a trade-in for an Explorer. A lot of the original owner's paperwork was still in the car. It was sold to him, 1st owner, in Aug. '05. The warranty book was signed by the dealer Aug. '05 and the car had a 'new car' state inspection sticker dated Aug 05 (if it had a previous registered owner, it couldn't have the same inspection sticker - it would have been different). So, clearly, Aug 05 is the date it was 1st sold to a customer.

At my 1st service trip to a different dealer, per Saab, the warranty period ended in April - not August. I called Saab, and their records showed the warranty was activated in April. I understand from others on this board, perhaps it was to qualify for some Saab incentive? In any case, the original dealer would not answer ANY questions from me whatsoever, as I wasn't their customer and they had no transaction with me. Saab was no help either - said any problem was a dealer issue.

In the long run, the car never needed service during that 4 - 5 month time between April, when Saab said the warranty ended, and Sept, when I thought the warranty ended when I purchased the car. But I learned a lesson - ALWAYS check the warranty status with Saab when purchasing a car - either new or used. The original buyer was the one who was lied to by his dealer!
