electrical dashboard gremlin chasing...input needed

i am still periodically having the symptom where at random points, and sometimes very frequently, the dashboard and head's up on top of the dash will go completely blank and then immediately come back up. when it returns all dash lights (oil, brakes, etc) are illuminated as if i just started the car - and the head's up on top of the dash states "checking" then "check ok". it's as if something is causing the start up process to take place for the dashboard. of note, nothing else in the running of the car seems to be affected (radio, climate control, engine running, etc).
i tried running through the fuses that might affect the dash components but all seemed ok and i pulled out and replaced to make sure connections were sound.
it is a seemingly completely random occurence - one i can not replicate so i have only been able to describe it to the dealer not show them.
is there anything you can think of that would cause the dashboard and head's up on top to go blank? or another way, where do these components get their power? i don't have a wiring diagram for this system, anyone have anything they can share?
the car is a 2006 9-3 aero.
thanks in advance for the help.
