Hi,
This is long, but I wanted to share my results..I have done a ton of research during my turbo swap and again thanks to all for your assistance. I just wanted to throw something out here for discussion. I have read on my cars ability to sludge and became nervous when I replaced my turbo using a t25. My car has 148k and the GT17 turbo was original. I took off my valve cover to find very little build up and there was a nice tan burn color to my cover, which I understand to be of favorable condition after the miles. I then decided to drop the oil pan, but started researching some detergents and came on to Sea Foam(been around for many years) Ignoring all that I know and have read about Saabs, I went ahead and put about 5 ounces into my crank case along with a new oil change using cheap 10/30 conventional oil. I then passed inspection.. have no idea how lol(after the amazing smoke show the oil in my intercooler put on after my turbo change) and drove my car last week back and forth to work 50 miles round trip (Dates are 11/13-11/20) On Sat (11/20) I changed my oil and replaced it with full synthetic and a k/n oil filter for $26.99(not a bad deal at all) To my complete suprise and after just 8 days of driving on my oil change.. the oil that came out of my car was black as coal.. all qts were accounted for, but the oil was as dirty as if I ran it for 30k. I am figuring the Sea Foam did what it was designed to do and is eating up deposits and junk in my motor. Now.. I did not drop the pan and check it before adding the Sea Foam, but.. I was convinced enough to add more Sea Foam (still on the conservative side at 5 oz) again and will do another oil change at 3k. I find the results to be interesting and am wondering if anyone else has had success using this product. Below are the responses I received directly from the Sea Foam R/D department when I inquired about the application I intended for their product.. addressed my concern of harming my turbo etc..
SEA FOAM R/D RESPONSE- One and a half OZ per quart of oil and it is safe for your turbo.

MY QUESTION***Hi Jim, Thanks for your feedback.
what is the ratio I should expect to use.. the standard 1.5 oz per qt of oil? My second question and my main concern.. will seafoam harm my turbo by cutting the oil ? where the turbo runs so hot .. and relies on that thin bead of specific lubrication .
R/D INITIAL RESPONSE ***John
Sea Foam will dissolve any petroleum deposits in the crankcase over a period of time. Sea Foam will dissolve the deposits and may clean up the oil pick up screen. Sea Foam is pure petroleum and has no harsh chemical additives and can be used for long term maintenance cleaning. Make sure to check your oil for color and change it when it looks dirty. Then repeat till clean.
