Advance Auto has wiper blade refills that fit well in the factory blades on our 2007 wagon. Part number 47-800, $6.99, contains two rubber refills with corresponding steel spines. A good deal compared to fifty bucks for a pair of new blades from the dealer.
I believe Saab went to a different wiper arm and blade arrangement for 2008, since the part numbers are different, so I'm fairly certain the refills won't work on those. A dealer gets sixty bucks for a new set of the 2008 and newer blades.
47-800 refills can also work in factory 2001 9-5 blades with slight modification of the claws. Dealer MSRP on a pair of 1998-2007 9-5 blades is about $53 (each side sold separately).
Advance Auto also has refills that fit the rear wiper blade on our 2007 wagon (and thus should fit every 9-3 wagon), under part number 47-700. Also $6.99, and also contains two rubber refills. After cutting the length needed for the rear blade, the remainder of each refill is enough for two 9-5 headlight wiper blades (1998-2001). So, one seven-dollar package of 47-700 is good for two 9-3 wagon rear blades (dealer MSRP $20 each) and four 9-5 headlight blades (dealer MSRP $19 each).
The 9-5 wagon rear wiper blade (dealer MSRP $22) is different, but there should be a something in the store that works. Either a refill, or a blade from which the frame could be removed and discarded.
All of the above wiper blade types are different than the old-style "bosch narrow" blades that came on 9000s and C900s. Refills for those can still be found in local parts stores. I haven't verified it yet, but Advance Auto 74-600 refills would probably work. This is probably not too relevant since I doubt anyone (other than myself) still has any of the original blades for these old cars.
