The headlight repair kit is basically a fix for the 03 and maybe 04 9-3’s that were, in my opinion, made with headlight fixtures that had poor wiring. The said fixture, since I do not know the actual name, is the plastic piece that fits into the main bracket that holds the lights in place. The plastic piece is where the bulbs fit in one end and the wires attach in the back. There are many posts of earlier 9-3’s going through headlight bulbs quite quickly (I have to change my bulbs twice per year if I am lucky). From what others have said it is the wiring that causes the bulbs to fail quite quickly. The headlight repair kit contains the plastic piece that holds the bulbs and wiring and, hopefully, the wiring in the new kit is much better. They are not very expensive, around 13 dollars per headlight, so if this works perhaps it will pay for itself if my lights last a year. In due time I will happily post whether or not this kit works out.
