Question on 2009 9-3 Performance

Hi All,
Had a question on my Facebook page about the performance on the 2009 9-3. Would someone with more expertise on this please enlighten me so I can report back?
Here's the post I got:
You all probably know a bit more about SAAB than I do (I have always LOVED them). Can someone explain to me, the SAAB V6 Turbo 9-3 they made in 2009... Why wasn't it faster??? That engine with a turbo on it should have easily done 0-60 in under 6 seconds. I honestly would expect ~5 seconds from a turbo 6 today. But somehow the car took close to 7 seconds to go 0-60... That is very bad for a turbocharged car with 6 cylinders!
A naturally aspirated (no turbo) V6 sedan today easily matches (beats?) that speed and uses less gas. Think Maxima, New Mustang V6, Camaro V6 they are all around 6 seconds 0-60 and use less fuel than the SAAB 9-3 V6... and I think less gas than the 4 cylinder too!
Is it just me or was the 9-3 with the V6 turbo just a poorly designed car? I'd opt for the 4 cylinder every time! I'd really like to know what you all think about this one.
