I put on a set of Kumho Ecsta 4X on my '06 9-3 SC 6K miles ago to replace Michelin Pilot Exaltos.
The 4X are ultra high performance tires and ride a lot harsher than either the Michelins or the OEM Pirellis on my '10 9-3SS.
They were dirt cheap, especially with the $50 rebate, but I'd look for another tire next time.
As for the Contis, if you read the reviews on TireRack, people complain about sidewall damage from hitting curbs and potholes. And, if I remember correctly, they weigh about 10-15% less per tire than, say, a Michelin Pilot Exalto. In other words, they use less material so the tires may be more prone to impact damage.
