And as you say, you would have to have a manual pressure gauge hooked up together with your scan tool and read both values at all times and "hopefully" you catch it when it is glitching after hundreds of miles driven.
So with the lower price of the Volvo sensor and ease to replace, you can throw one in and let the customer do the testing for you while commuting to work every day.
If you guessed wrong, it is no big deal to remove the sensor and use it for the next car or sell it together with a new fuel pump since they will go bad at some point anyway. Especially if it is the original part number and not the third or fourth or what they are up to now in super-session.
