Once a 9-3SS battery starts getting to be 3 years old, I start suggesting replacement, however I am very proactive. See 30% of failures before 3 years and 60% between 3-5 years. Heat is a battery's worst enemy. With the wonderful starter interrupt circuit they crank great until they dont crank at all. Doesn't give you that my battery is dying deathly slow crank anymore.
