Trust your Tech on this one Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Tue, 1 May 2012 03:28:37 In Reply to: 2003 Saab 93 2.0t, HudsonValleySaabGuy, Mon, 30 Apr 2012 18:19:14 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Welcome!
Error messsage of no ABS signal, whirring noise indicative of bad wheel bearing, and Tech says new hub is required. Strong chance the bearing is bad and has allowed the hub to no longer align properly with the wheel speed sensor.
If you didn't have the whirring noise I would suggest investigating whether the sensor is still in its holder properly, and if the wires are undamaged. The noise item added to the mix indicates that your Tech is being honest with you.
Unless there is a Service Document identifying extensive recent routine maintenance work I recommend changing all fluids; tranny, brakes, power steering, coolant, to maximize the life of your new car.
Power Steering requires Pentosin CHF-11s or CHF-202 fluid. Brakes require a DOT-4 fluid. Coolant is DexCool. Tranny fluid is 3309 or Toyota Type T-IV fluid, assuming it is a 5-speed auto. All can be purchased at any local auto parts store catering to import cars, my local CarQuest even carries all of the above.
