You can have up to five fobs. When you went to the dealer, did you give them all three fobs? They need all of them when programming a new one. That's probably why you got the "not accepted" message.
You said it was difficult to lock/unlock the doors. Are your buttons on the fob waring? Mine were. I purchased a new key fob case on EBay and swapped the circuit board (very easy to do), and no dealer programming was necessary.
