Weird key happenings Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sat, 15 Sep 2012 11:41:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Went grocery shopping with the wife this morning. She used her key to lock the doors when we arrived at the store. Upon leaving the store and returning to the car I tried to use the spare key for her 9-3SC that I was carrying.
It wouldn't unlock the hatch, nor would it unlock the doors.
I unsheathed the cut key and used that to open the driver's door where upon the alarm immediately sounded. I released the hatch using the door push button and started the car with the key body/scabbard to silence the alarm. Naturally the spare key worked perfectly when we arrived home with the groceries.
The car is a 2006 and the key batteries had never been changed so I already took care of that this afternoon. Has anyone else had something similar happen to them? I guess I am just accustomed to my old 9-5 where the SID would alert you when the fob battery was getting weak. Should we have received a weak key battery message? Why does the alarm sound when you open the door with the cut key?
