I know it is not the same car, and I live in North Carolina and not the north east, but I went to Bridgestones after the original OEM Michelin's wore out on my 2000 9-3 and I have been running Bridgestones ever since (currently on the RE970AS). No tire is perfect for all conditions, but what I have liked about the RE960 and now the RE970 (and maybe 950 before that...can't remember the actual designation) is that the dry traction and wet traction remain very good even as the tread wears down. What I did not like about the Michelins is that it seemed like about 50% of the way through the tread, the wet traction dropped off dramatically.
Now, depending on how much snow you get in your area, you might end up needing a different set for the heart of winter, but they have worked OK here with the limited snow that NC gets.
