There are lots of bad stories regarding Dex-Cool, some of which may be true, but I have never heard of a bad experience when the coolant was changed every 2 to 4 years.
Think of it like the first synthetic oils, a good product with unrealistic longevity hype. Change it regularly and you should not have a problem. In fact, this approach is probably lower risk than changing the fluid with its chance of a chemical incompatibility.
