I just did this same thing Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 2 Nov 2012 12:37:01 In Reply to: TPS fit on older wheels?, AdamD, Fri, 2 Nov 2012 11:34:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I bought four TPS sensors and had them installed in older 16-inch Saab wheels which are shod with snows. These will be mounted on my '08 9-5 next week, or the week after that.
I found the cheapest source to be the local Discount Tire store. Ordered them one afternoon and picked them up two days later. I was tipped off to only buy sensors specific to Saab's TPS frequency. Apparently there are universal multi-frequency sensors available and they have lots of problems.
I anticipate receiving Low Tire Pressure alarms for the first 25 miles after mounting the wheels until the system recognizes the new sensors. No marrying required - or so I have been told.
