If it is the P-0089 code it is very common on the V6 engine with on demand fuel pump and fuel pressure sensor.
Yes, they are most likely right in that the white coat lab rats didn't get the programming right and that the ECU is oversensitive to when the fuel pump and sensor start to get tired but long before it is actually worn out.
It have been many software updates for both Saab and Volvo modules to cope with oversensitive programming. Who knew that things start to wear out and doesn't run as pristine as a controlled lab test.
Volvo is having the same problem after they came out with the on demand fuel pump system and on the Volvo's it is more often the fuel pressure sensor than the pump but it could be either/or.
I wonder if GM even have a Saab staff left that is working on software updates, that sounds like a long shot.
