TX saga continues-advice please (long) Posted by Marcd7 [Email] (#1232) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Marcd7) on Mon, 11 Feb 2013 20:42:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I bought a one-owner TX w 117k (75% highway miles) on it for about $10k which had 15 full service records on it from the Saab dealership. Interior is impeccable, but the exterior has some minor scratches all around (no dents), and after having it a month, realized the hood had been painted poorly, and it really stands out (no insurance claim). The wax job from when I bought it has worn off. Gotta love dreary DC weather. The previous owner hit a road sign at 5mph which slapped the hood. Other than cosmetic issues, the car is great. There were some repairs made, CV boot, FPS, leaking front axle seal by the dealership I bought it from for free. So the small dealership has been top notch, even to the point where they said they would give me my money back due to not realizing the paint issue on the hood.
Since it's a manual, and I've already dumped time into tuning it, putting some basic, easy GS mods on it, I don't know if I should keep it and have the hood painted, or just take it back and get an automatic, which are much more available.
Would anyone totally repaint the hood and just keep it? Or is paying $5-8k on a newer one with 40-60k miles on it going to be worth it? I need to decide in the next couple of days. Any advice greatly appreciated.
I already have an awesome tuned Vig w 49K on it, so I'm on the fence about the transmission on the TX, especially since I had a '99 9-5 w 212k on it, and it was an auto.
